Linda McLean

CD: No Language
(Nettwerk)
RATING: ****
UK Music Media Review
Anyone who gets a bit snobbish about music with a tinge of country is going
to miss a treat. Linda McLean's second album nestles comfortably alongside artists
such as Lucinda Williams and Kathleen Edwards. Although tracks like 'Almost
Alien' recall memories of KD Lang.
The songwriting is consistently strong throughout and a few of the tracks have
hit potential if the right radio stations pick up on them. Songs like 'All Around'
and 'What I'm After' seep into your consciousness and refuse to leave.
To put it into a UK context (Kathleen Edwards not being a household name over
here) I'd recommend this album to anyone who likes KT Tunstall or Norah Jones.
