RED DEER ADVOCATE REVIEW, January 27, 2006
Linda McLean- No Language (BongoBeat)
While others create similar sounds, McLean approaches her music with a brightness
that is exceptional. Coming out Ontario's Muskoka region, McLean favourably
compares to Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams on tracks like Love Nor Money
and Calling. Like these artists, her voice cuts through the bland sounds overwhelming
commercial radio. Andy McLean's guitar playing is outstanding: intricate, clean,
and mood-inducing. 'What I'm After' offers crispness in its images of unfulfilled
possibilities, while Amsterdam Canals juxtaposes Johnny Cash and wandering in
a natural manner. Exquisite.
