Linda McLean - No Language (Bongo Beat)
Well written middle-of-the-road roots Americana.
Despite hailing from Ontario, Canada, Linda McLean sings with the
southern twang of a country chick, her guitars bouncing along
behind her; she employs classic singer-song writing techniques; so
go no further if you’re looking for something to break the mould.
She sings with a mature, convincing voice, singing songs about
life's experiences, often whimsical thoughts, "All Around" a tale
about a free spirit growing bored and changing direction in life,
with the lovely lyric "She stares into a cup and wonders mildly
what does it mean when the leaves go up."
The record grows on you, it's no revolution in music, but the girl
knows what she's doing, the songs are well written, just
occasionally drift into the background if you're not really paying
attention.
For fans of: Katie Melua, Lucie Silvas, Anne McCue, Mindy Smith, Shawn Colvin.
